big deal

Last month, the biggest sale in DC was Halcyon House for $11,000,000. Unfortunately, Curbed and a few other blogs reported on this event when it closed on March 6.  Moving onto the next largest sale in March….

The Romanesque mansion built in 1885 has had many incarnations.  It was home to a DC society bell that was killed 200 yards from it in 1976.  In 1986, it was converted into office space.  Officially, it only has one bedroom and one and half baths but it's 11,200 square feet.  It's four levels with two fireplaces, large rooms and many original architectural details.  It was purchased with cash (!)  I can't wait to see if it's developed into condos or it's restored to it's former glory.  I hope it's the latter.
