g sandwich

When G Sandwich opened, I did a happy dance.  FINALLY…a neighborhood joint where I could get a decent sandwich. The sandwich shop is the latest endevour from Mike Isabella (Graffiato, Kapnos, Top Chef) and opened the last week of July.

I'm a big fan.  I always get the roasted turkey sandwich with fresh spinach, giadiniera (a pickled vegetable topping that's mostly chopped carrots and onion) with lemon-thyme mayo.  Yea.  It's yummy.

This time, my husband ordered the suckling pig sub with mustard greens, spicy apple mostardo and provolone. He also ordered the homemade rosemary potato chips (so.damn.delicious).  Although he thought it was good, he also thought it needed more acid (yes, these are the type of conversations we have at lunch).  So he wrapped it up and took it home.  He then proceeded to devour it after he doused it with sirracha and hot banana peppers.

In the past, my husband has also ordered the Italian Sub.  Which he liked except for the mayo and eggplant (which also led to a rant on Facebook about how "real" Italian subs don't include mayo.  This guy.  Food critic or pain in the ass.  I can't tell most days).

However you feel about my husband's peccadilloes regarding G's sandwiches, they're quality.  I'm super excited to have it within a couple of blocks of the house. Not to mention, Wed-Sunday they have a $40 tasting meal that's 3 courses and features Italian dishes.  Go visit!
